Apparel Range Planning: Coordinating Sportswear, Casual and Streetwear Styles

· FASA GROUP Buyer Guides · 2 min read

Plan an apparel range as a set of linked but individually specified styles. Shared colours, logos or packaging can make the collection easier to coordinate, but they do not remove differences in fit, materials and construction. Use a range matrix to expose missing decisions before asking for a consolidated quotation.

In this guide

Create a range matrix before individual briefs

Field Decision it supports
Style ID and garment type Keeps each quotation line identifiable
Material proposal Shows intentional sharing and differences
Colour and branding references Coordinates the visible range
Size/colour quantities Defines the actual order composition
Sample and approval status Separates confirmed styles from open development

Share references without merging approvals

Keep one controlled master artwork file where the same logo is intended, then specify its size, colour and position for each garment. A proof approved on a polo does not automatically approve placement on a jacket. Apply the same discipline to fabric shades, labels and packing instructions.

  • Mark which components are intended to be common.
  • Record acceptable differences explicitly.
  • Give every style its own measurement sheet.
  • Identify samples that must be reviewed together.
  • Track a changed shared component across affected styles.

Ask for a transparent combined quotation

Supply style-level quantities rather than only a collection total. Ask the manufacturer to identify assumptions, unresolved options and any proposed substitutions against the relevant style IDs. Keep target launch dates as planning requirements awaiting confirmation, not as accepted production commitments.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Sending mood-board images without individual style definitions.
  • Treating a range total as a complete quantity breakdown.
  • Letting a shared component change bypass affected approvals.

Prepare the next decision

Issue the range matrix with the linked style briefs. Confirm which decisions can be shared and which require separate samples before selecting the final range.

For catalogue context, explore the Apparel collection. Discuss your development requirements through the manufacturing and sampling process.

Let’s Discuss Your Next Collection

Share your references, specifications and requested quantities. Materials, feasibility, pricing and timing are confirmed for your project.
